My Dream Come True

Born From the Pandemic

The Happy Hen was born during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020. I had some extra time on my hands since our office had gone to a work rotation and I like to stay busy! I had always dreamed of opening some sort of food related service and so I started dabbling with sourdough. One thing led to another and after much practice I started advertising through Facebook, the cheapest means of advertisement! My dear friend, Hollie Porter of Lottie J. Farm, invited me to start setting up at her events In the fall of 2020 and thanks to the support of so many friends and family it continued to grow!

My Inspiration

Commitment to quality

My inspiration comes from my sweet momma who passed away in 2012 from pancreatic cancer. She was a rock for so many people and she LOVED to feed people! I love to feed people! It makes them happy and their happiness makes me happy! She always had an extra “tater” for anyone who was hungry and believe me, with a large farm family and those helping, she used lots of “taters!” She was well known for her cooking! I’ll never measure up to her, but I hear her voice in my ear often when I’m baking!

Why “The Happy Hen”?

The name, “The Happy Hen,” is for my sweet hens who provide farm fresh eggs every day for my recipes! I try and use the freshest ingredients and produce from local farmers when I can. It’s so important to me! We grow our own pumpkins so Fall is a favorite season for me. I will continue to strive to make people happy!
